When you’re shopping for a cubic zirconia ring, you may very well be overwhelmed by the selection. That and all the terms! There is the metal the band is made out of, then the cut of the stone or stones, then the color of the stones. All of those options makes for quite a lot of variations in cubic zirconia rings.
First let’s talk about the metal. There is 10k gold, 14k gold, 18k gold and 22k gold bands. If a CZ ring is quite inexpensive and you’re surprised at the price, check the metal of the band. It’s probably 10k gold. 14k gold is the minimum that I would buy in a ring. You can tell a 10k gold ring just by looking at it. The gold doesn’t look gold. Why pay for a beautiful stone and cheap out on the quality of the gold? If I want something better than 14k gold, I usually then go straight to 22k gold. It’s much softer than 14k gold but boy is that color amazing. It is almost pure gold, which is 24k. 22k is more of a yellow color than you’re used to seeing but it’s stunning and you can tell 22k gold from far away. It is heavier and you really feel special wearing a 22k gold cubic zirconia ring. Another metal is white gold which is silver mixed with gold to get the silver color. Then there is platinum which is more expensive and yet still has the silver color. And of course you can actually get a silver band, made from silver. Silver tarnishes and can be a pain to keep tarnish free. That’s why is people want the silver color they get a white gold or platinum band.
Now you need to decide on the cut of the main stone for your CZ ring. There is a wide variety of cuts that you can get. Emerald cut, marquise cut, brilliant cut, princess cut, trilliant or trillion cut, cushion cut, checkerboard cut, radiant cut, round cut, baguette cut, briolette cut. That is a lot of options! The brilliant cut is the one you see most diamonds cut. It is round with facets to specifically show off the fire of the diamond. Emerald cut is the rectangle stepped cut. Marquise is an elongated oval with both ends coming to a point. Princess cut is a square shape. Trilliant or trillion is a triangle cut. Then there are varieties of the brilliant cut such as heart, pear, etc.
The varieties of metal, cuts of the stones and colors really make a huge variety of cubic zirconia rings to choose from.
